Supporting Animal Welfare Charities

At Sherlocks Engraved Gifts in Northampton, we take pride in our commitment to help out animal rescue charities so they can keep on carrying out their incredible work.

We are extremely passionate about the fact that no animal should have to suffer which is why we give back to these animal rescue charities in various ways.

We currently support five Animal Welfare Charities by creating unique keepsakes and products containing their logos. We donate £2 directly to the charity on all these products.

Animals In Need is an organisation dedicated to rescuing sick, injured, trapped and distressed wild and domestic animals. We provide veterinary treatment where necessary, care for and rehabilitate animals until they can be released or re-homed. Animals In Need was set up in 1990, the aim of the organization is alleviate suffering in animals.

In the years Animals In Need has been established, we have acquired a fully equipped animal ambulance, two water crafts and trailers for transportation, plus the usual first aid essentials. Although our first aid equipment is adequate it is regularly updated to current standards.

Animals In Need is a rescue organisation run by 8 members of staff and a team of volunteers, attending animal casualties in the Northamptonshire area. We attend to both domestic and wild animals, and in 1999 were asked by Northamptonshire Police to work with them attending road traffic accidents and out of hours emergencies.

Feeding and caring for the injured animals we rescue is most important especially in cases of young orphaned birds, which need hand feeding every hour from dawn till dusk. Also young hedgehogs which haven’t reached the required weight to survive hibernation over the winter months, need to be kept warm and fed as do swans that have incurred injuries, many from fishing tackle that they have swallowed or become entangled in.  Please if you bring in wildlife or collect hedgehogs after we have rehabilitated them, perhaps you would be kind enough to consider setting up a standing order or making a one-off donation to help towards food and vet bills – we are totally reliant on donations and receive no government funding.

Dogue de Bordeaux Welfare logo

The DDB Welfare was established in May 2007 by Bev Graham. This non-profit organisation was put in place for the Welfare of the Dogue de Bordeaux in the UK, and is hoped that this will help many unfortunate Dogue de Bordeaux who may need caring hands! We also wish to share our knowledge of the breed with anyone hoping to share their life with one!

Today Bev is still the patron and founder of the welfare but due to the breed’s popularity and high puppy numbers, her

team has now expanded greatly. Once headed by Doreen Joy, DDB Welfare is now being run by a team of coordinators including Julie Minnican, Donna Bland, Kelly Winspa, and Sarah Illston and covers all four corners of the UK.

We have a huge team of volunteers from advice experts ranging from Top breeders, Pet Owners to Top Breed Handlers. We have a great transport team, Foster homes and of course assessors. Without all these people giving up their spare time and hearts it would make our job extremely hard indeed.

The National Pug Protection Trust was formed during the pandemic to rescue pugs that can no longer be cared for or have been neglected and abused due to financial and emotional difficulties. We have a national network of volunteers who come together to collect surrendered dogs and help to transport them to appropriate foster homes.

Whilst in these temporary foster homes the pugs are health checked, undergo a full and comprehensive behavioural assessment and where necessary neutered and spayed.

All of our members are unpaid volunteers who give their time freely whilst holding down full time jobs. No one receives

remuneration or benefits. We are extremely fretful to all our volunteers who work tirelessly and effectively to help rescue pugs in need.

Redheads Rescue Animal Sanctuary logo

For many years we rescued animals privately before deciding to become Redhead Rescues Animal Sanctuary. I began by rescuing field animals and soon started to take on dogs and cats due to the huge crisis.

rescuing and rehabilitating animals from a variety of backgrounds takes us all over the UK, our digs and cats go straight into foster homes, this ensures the least amount of stress for them. we provide all of the food, equipment and medical care that is needed, everyone is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, flea'd and wormed as a minimum before heading off to a well matched forever home.

We are fully self funded and as the rescue is growing, we are hoping to turn into a registered charity in the near future.

Wellidog logo

Wellingborough Dog Welfare, or Wellidog as we are more fondly known is a local charity in Grendon, Northamptonshire, and we are dedicated to making life easier for strays and unwanted dogs locally from surrounding areas.

With so many abandoned and unwanted dogs entering kennels every day we are committed to finding loving homes for all of our dogs. We are a no-kill shelter who believe that second hand dogs make first class friends, and we work around the clock to raise funds to care for the dogs in our care while we search for their perfect forever home.

All of the money we raise goes directly to our charity, but we can only carry on the work we do with the help of people’s generosity. We are always grateful for any donations, so even if you can’t help financially there may be some other way to help, even if you only have spare time to lend a hand

We do not claim expenses for our work, our payment is seeing the dogs in our care transferred to a forever home and becoming part of a family where they are loved.
